Cattle: Dead or Alive
>> Tuesday, December 22, 2009
Once upon a time, John bought a cattle from a farmer for $50. The farmer promised to deliver the cattle to his house the next day.
The next day, the farmer found the cattle dead and went to apologize to John. John demanded a refund, however, the farmer told him that he had gambled it all away and had no money to pay him back. John was upset but told the farmer to deliver the cattle anyway. The farmer was puzzled but a deal is a deal, so he brought the dead cattle to John.
A month later, the farmer bumped into John.
Farmer: What happened to the cattle?
John: I made a profit of $48 for it.
Farmer: What! How?
John: I sold fifty $2 tickets for a lucky draw to win the cattle.
Farmer: Didn't anyone complain that the cattle was dead?
John: Just one, the winner, so I refunded his $2.
I learned 2 things from this joke:
The positive: Doing the same ordinary things over and over again, will not achieve extraordinary results. I have to think out of the box and challenge convention. (Unlike this, in a positive way, of course.)
The negative: There are so many unscrupulous people who are doing just that by selling fake courses and products. I have to beware of them.
What have you learned? I would like to hear your perspective, post them in the comments.
