Would You Like To Recieve $1,854.36 More Every Month?

>> Tuesday, October 2, 2012

This was the subject of a marketing email I received. The contents of which I believe is no stranger to everyone following finance blogs, it is the same as advertisements we see every single day multiple times in the same Straits Times newspaper - trade in gold, forex, options, stocks, property, and even magical numbers. The latest of which is not an advertisement but a Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) raid on Genneva Gold. Well, all "good" things must come to an end, the party lasted long enough since 2008 for those who benefited from it and managed to pull out just in time.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, how nice it would be to have such a passive income every month. Some of my readers have imagined that popular bloggers could be earning that kind of money and perhaps even more. Well, I do suppose those famous and infamous Singapore bloggers that have sometimes been given editorial space on the local newspapers since netizens are now in the limelight due to the National Conversation could probably be getting some form of income from sponsors.

However, I believe at rest of us normal people are earning next to nothing and hence, keeping our day jobs. Some of my friends and family have asked "why am I STILL doing it?". Thinking aloud, I suppose the objective and interest has not changed, however, like with some hobbies, you kind of spend less time on them after some time. For those who have been following, the frequency of posting has dropped tremendously and, I must admit, the quality as well. In the close-nit community of finance blogs, most who began about the same time as me have stopped or greatly reduced their contribution. I suppose I will be no exception.

In a long river, the back wave replaces the front wave. All the best to the next wave of finance bloggers.

Aside, I would just like to make special mention that my previous post of the million dollar HDB has come true. It wasn't about it happening, that is a given, without a doubt. What I predicted was the free advertising for the agent. So congrats to Irene Ho from DWG! Winner of the FREE advertising on newspapers, internet news, telecast news, property sites, blogs, etc!
